RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Two North Carolinians have been nominated to sit on the prestigious state Board of Education. Both must be confirmed by the General Assembly for an eight-year term.

-- J. Todd Chasteen (Watauga County) -  Chasteen serves as vice president of administration, human resources and general counsel for Samaritan’s Purse, an international nonprofit organization with offices in Australia, Canada, Holland, Ireland, Kenya, the United Kingdom and the United States. Prior to serving with Samaritan’s Purse, he worked as a senior attorney adviser for the Honorable Lawrence Wright at the United States Tax Court and subsequently practiced law specializing in exempt organization law. Earlier in his career he was a certified public accountant licensed in Florida. Chasteen graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from James Madison University and earned his J.D. with honors and L.L.M. Taxation from the University of Florida.  


-- Patti Head (Wake County) - Head is chair of board development at Communities in Schools of Wake County. Head served on the Wake County School Board from 2001 to 2009, including two years as chair. Prior to serving on the school board, she was a community volunteer in the school system for 28 years. She graduated from Wake Forest University and is a former teacher in the Forsyth County School System.
