RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Nearly 700 of the brightest North Carolina juniors and seniors are on their way to the 2016
Session of the North Carolina Governor’s School. The 2016 session runs from June 19 - July 27.

The curriculum is a rigorous selection of academics and arts.

The 670 students were first nominated by local school officials.

Faculty and staff of the Governor’s School include distinguished teachers and professionals from public and private schools, colleges, and universities across the country. Others are independent artists and scholars. To further enrich the student community, many faculty members are in residence on campus as well.

A $500 tuition fee is charged for each student. Some school officials pick up the cost. Others require the student to pay, but help find scholarships.

Gov. Terry Sanford founded the Governor’s School of North Carolina in 1963. There are two campuses, one at Salem College in Winston-Salem and one at Meredith College in Raleigh.

The list of participants can be found at ncpublicschools.org.
