RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - As President Obama prepares to address the nation about his plan to issue an executive order to prevent deportation of millions of illegal immigrants, a new poll shows the public isn't on his side of the issue.

Rasmussen Reports polling shows 56 percent of U.S. likely voters believe the federal government already isn’t doing enough to send illegal immigrants back home.

That’s up slightly from 52 percent in April but down from a high of 60 percent last year. Just 16 percent believe the government’s deportation policy is too aggressive, while 17 percent say the number of deportations is about right.

More than half of voters -- 53 percent -- oppose the president's pla to protect up to 5 million illegal immigrants from deportation.
