RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Rep. Alma Adams says historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) need more federal support in order to continue providing opportunity for upward mobility.

In a video message for the Congressional Black Caucus, North Carolina's 12th District Congresswoman talks about her background as a product of HBCUs and why she and other members of Congress are committed to supporting them.

She received both her bachelor and master's degrees from North Carolina A&T University and was a professor and adminstrator at Bennett College.

The chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus is North Carolina's 1st District Congressman, G.K. Butterfield.
