RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - William B. Sutton Jr. has been appointed District Court Judge for the 4th Judicial District, which covers Sampson, Duplin, Onslow and Jones counties.

Sutton fills a vacancy made by  the retirement of Chief District Court Judge Leonard Thagard. He was appointed to the post by Gov. Pat McCrory, who said in a statement he believes Sutton's expertise in civil and criminal cases will be an asset to the Court.
 
Sutton has a private practice in Clinton, which he has run since 1989. He has represented civil and criminal cases in both District and Superior Court.

Sutton received his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his law degree from Campbell University.
