The Charlotte City Council has voted unanimously to repeal the non-discrimination “bathroom-bill” ordinance in an apparent deal with the General Assembly to repeal HB2

The ordinance allowed transgender people to use the bathroom of their sexual identity, regardless of the physical biology.

When the Charlotte City Council passed the transgender bathroom ordinance earlier this year, the General Assembly passed HB2 which nullified the ordinance.

In September, the Charlotte City Council was to consider repealing the ordinance in exchange for HB2 repeal by the General Assembly, but WBTV reported that Democratic House Representative Becky Carney convinced enough city council members not to repeal the ordinance.
