RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - At a ceremony Friday, Robert Hunter, Jr. will be formally sworn in as Associate Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court. Gov. Pat McCrory will be in attendance.
 
Hunter is taking the seat previously held by new Chief Justice Mark Martin.
 
Hunter was appointed to the seat by Gov. Pat McCrory after appointing Martin to succeed retiring Chief Justice Sarah Parker.
 
Hunter previously sat on the Court of Appeals. He is seeking a full term on the Supreme Court in November's election. His opponent is Appeals Court Justice Sam "Jimmy" Ervin IV.
 
Hunter's investiture will take place at 2 p.m. at the Supreme Court building in downtown Raleigh.
