RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Nearly 700 transportation executives from around the country gathered in Charlotte over the weekend for the annual convention of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.

Gov. Pat McCrory talked with the group about North Carolina's transportation reforms, including the strategic mobility formula and laying out a 25-year vision for transportation as part of the organization's annual look at industry innovation and trends.

"Under the leadership of Secretary Tata and along with the Legislature, we have implemented sweeping reforms in transportation aimed at boosting safety, alleviating congestion and spurring economic development," the governor said. "By sharing best practices we have implemented in our state and learning from those around the country, we can continue pursuing transportation initiatives that will benefit North Carolina for generations."

Secretary Tata was on hand as well.
