RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Two North Carolinians will be taking seats on two of the state's boards that work in the agricultural arena.

Stuart Pierce of Hertford County has been appointed to the Agricultural Development & Farmland Preservation Trust Fund Advisory Committee. Pierce is the president of Stuart Pierce Farms Inc.

The committee advises the Commissioner of Agriculture in his role administering the Agricultural Development & Farmland Preservation Trust Fund. Pierce will serve at the pleasure of Gov. Pat McCrory rather than a specificed term.

Wake County resident Matt Kirkpatrick has been appointed to the North Carolina Agricultural Finance Authority. He is the owner of Reliant Partners LLC, a real estate development and investment firm in Raleigh.

The authority is empowered to alleviate the severe shortage of capital and credit available at affordable interest rates for investment in agriculture and for export of agricultural products, commodities and services by providing such capital and credit at interest rates within the financial means of persons and businesses engaged in agriculture and agricultural exports.

Kirkpatrick's term is for three years.
