RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Tom Murry doesn't serve in the General Assembly anymore, but his new appointment will have him making recommendations to the body he was part of for two terms.

Murry, a Republican from Wake County, has been appointed to the North Carolina General Statutes Commission.

The commission studies state laws to determine the need for statutory changes with a special focus on Uniform and Model Acts recommended by the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws and the American Law Institute.

Murry is Chief Legal Counsel for Governmental Affairs at the North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts.

Also re-appointed to the commission is Mike Mitchell, a partner at Smith Anderson in Raleigh. Mitchell has two decades of legal experience in state and federal court.
