RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - If she hopes to be elected to a second term, Democratic Senate incumbent Kay Hagan has work to do with her constituents.

New data released by Democratic polling firm Public Policy Polling shows North Carolinians giving Hagan just a 42 percent job approval rataing. Nearly half of those surveyed -- 49 percent -- disapprove of the job she's doing as our state's junior senator.

Nine percent told Public Policy Polling they're not sure.

In this same poll, Hagan's Republican challenger, House Speaker Thom Tillis, held a 48 percent unfavorable rating.

Hagan faces Tillis and Libertarian Sean Haugh on November's ballot. The race is seen by national pundits as a key race that could determine whether the Democrats keep control of the Senate or whether the Republicans take control.
