RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is the latest big name in the Republican Party to sign on to be part of the North Carolina GOP's convention in June.

Cruz is seeking the GOP's nomination for  president. He joins Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker on the agenda. Walker is widely expected to seek the GOP's nomination as well.

Other scheduled speakers include former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton and entrepreneur Donald Trump.

A highlight will be the election of a new state party chairperson. Current Chairman Claude Pope has announced he will not seek another term and will return to the Carolina coast to operate his family business.

State Democrats chose their new leader, Patsy Keever, earlier this year.
