RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - A national media outlet is reporting that former North Carolina Sen. Kay Hagan will not challenge Sen. Richard Burr in the 2016 election for Senate.

Fox News says two unnamed sources confirmed that Hagan is a no-go following months of speculation that she was considering a run to try and unseat the veteran Republican. Hagan is a Democrat who was ousted from her Senate seat last year by Republican Thom Tillis.

Burr is the Senate Intelligence Committee chairman.

Democrats now face a big question mark about who might have the gravitas and name recognition to give Burr a solid challenge.
