RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - State Sen. Joel Ford has told the Charlotte Observer that the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee called him to discuss a possible run against Republican incumbent U.S. Sen. Richard Burr.

Ford is serving his second term in the state Senate. He has been active in Mecklenburg County Democratic politics.

According to the newspaper, Ford described himself as a "pro-business moderate."

The Democratic Party has so far not been able to lock down a candidate to challenge Burr. Former Sen. Kay Hagan turned down the idea earlier this year.
