RALEIGH -- A local prosecutor who's also the son of state Senate leader Phil Berger says he's considering running for a Piedmont-area seat in Congress next year whose district boundaries may soon be dramatically changed.

Rockingham County District Attorney Phil Berger Jr. told The Associated Press on Tuesday he's looking at the 13th District post currently held by Democrat Brad Miller. The Republican said he loves what he's doing now but that serving citizens in Washington is appealing.

Berger already lives in the 13th District but the boundaries could be more favorable to a GOP candidate next year. The GOP-led Legislature has proposed lines making it harder for Miller to get re-elected.

Forsyth County Republican Party Chairman Nathan Tabor said over the weekend he would run for the 13th in 2012.
