Governor Roy Cooper endored U.S. Congressional candidate and former North Carolina Democratic Party Chair (2012), David Parker. Parker is running against 16-year incumbent Patrick McHenry in the new District 10, which includes Lincoln, Catawba, Iredell, Yadkin, Surry, Stokes, Rockingham, and parts of Forsyth County.

In his statement, Cooper wrote: "I support David Parker for US Congress in District 10 because rural North Carolina needs a representative who cares about the issues real North Carolinians are facing. David Parker is ready to roll up his sleeves and get to work to fight for the needs of North Carolina: affordable healthcare, quality jobs and fair pay, and will protect the constitutional rights of Americans."
