RALEIGH -- Another Republican has decided to run for a North Carolina congressional seat in 2012 now that it appears district boundaries will boost GOP prospects.

Former Winston-Salem city councilman Vernon Robinson announced Wednesday he would run for the 13th District seat he sought unsuccessfully five years ago. Robinson lost by nearly a two-to-one margin to incumbent Democratic Rep. Brad Miller and suggested then he may not seek elected office again.

Republican state legislators unveiled a draft congressional map last week that would reshape Miller's district and raise GOP voter registration percentages there.

Forsyth County Republican Party Chairman Nathan Tabor has announced he's a candidate. Rockingham County District Attorney Phil Berger Jr. is also considering a campaign.

Robinson lost a primary runoff for the 5th District seat in 2004.
