Jamie DeMent Holcomb is running for the North Carolina State Senate in District 23. The newly drawn district includes all of Orange, Caswell, and Person Counties and was previously represented by Senator Valerie Foushee who announced she is running for Congress.

Growing up in rural Franklin County, DeMent Holcomb attended public schools and went on to attend UNC-Chapel Hill as a Morehead-Cain scholar.

"In the State Senate, I’ll work to create a North Carolina that helps everyone – from our rural farmers and mechanics to tech entrepreneurs and medical professionals,” DeMent Holcomb said.

DeMent Holcomb lives in Hillsborough with her husband and their infant daughter. She is the owner of multiple small businesses including a local sustainable farm and Bella Bean Organics, an online farmers’ market that features products grown and produced in North Carolina. She was also a partner in two farm to table restaurants — Zely & Ritz in Raleigh and Piedmont in Durham. An accomplished author, DeMent Holcomb has published two cookbooks, and she is the managing partner of the North Carolina Venture Capital Fund, which seeks to invest in early stage NC startups. DeMent Holcomb is the Interim Executive Director of Kidzu Children's Museum in Chapel Hill – a museum serving children (ages 0-12) and the adults in their lives.
